On November 25th, I was privileged to unveil a monument to my late father Murray, as founder of the Geelong Speed Trials. This was erected just near the start-line at Eastern Beach, Geelong in Australia. As Christmas was close we decided to stay in the old hometown and experience a hot, Aussie Christmas. Well, the weather wasn't so hot but it was good eating the traditional Turkey and Christmas pudding surrounded by long-term friends and relatives. (No we didn't have sandwiches on the beach).
Now back in England I'm getting excited about the forthcoming motoring activities that will soon be underway once spring has arrived. When the weather has improved I intend to put in some miles in the 1936 Alfa Romeo. As she accelerates, the unique deep throated sound of the twin supercharged 2.3 straight six comes into play and with the wind blowing in your face, it's the perfect way to get rid of those winter blues. The first Karma Enduro which starts on 15th October is a complete sell-out and the organisers are now running a second Karma straight after the first has finished. One hundred Hindustan Ambassadors will be flagged off from Goa, India and will finish two weeks later in Cochin. Trevor and I will be in one of the Ambassadors and I am really looking forward to the experience. The organisers have announced that by October this year their motor-bike rides and their first car drives will have raised over £1,000,000 for the two chosen charities in just one year. In March I will be announcing my project for next year. I think it will be the most challenging I have ever attempted. WATCH THIS SPACE.
